How to Host Better Digital Meetings

2020 has been the year of virtual meetings! By now many companies and people are suffering from “ZOOM Fatigue” and looking for ways to bring some life into the drudgery of workplace virtual meetings. Although COVID-19 forced the virtual office, it may turn out that many organizations choose not to go back to the traditional office or gathering in person for events. More than ever it is important to bring some life into the virtual meeting space so that online meetings don’t become the new cubicles: boring, predictable, and impersonal!

Join our expert panel as they discuss tips and tricks to improve your virtual meetings. This will include a discussion on successful practices including:

Ron Bettin is a business leader with a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit that spans energy, consumer products, healthy workspaces, industrial and business start-ups. Ron has both domestic and international experience and is the Co-founder of Fitneff and ReSourceYYC.

PANELISTS

Sandra Gollnick is a sought-after expert in immersive digital and live events of various sizes from the initial design of the event to final evaluation including overall planning, coordination, and execution. She also possesses an intuitive ability to recognize and understand the underlying motivations and needs of people. She translates these ideas and creates experiences for change resulting in high-level participant engagement.

Sandra is a Certified Meeting Professional and Digital Event Strategist who is inspired by creating experiences that foster change, learning, and bring people together.  She has been in the meetings industry for over 20 years working with Alberta Health Services as a Meeting and Health Marketing Specialist, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, and most recently the Fairmont Palliser.

Jeff Griffiths is a co-founder of WorkForce Strategies International, a Calgary-based workforce and organizational development consultancy focused on evidence-based approaches to using individual and collective competency to achieve outstanding results for clients. He began his career as an officer in the Canadian military, where he learned first-hand the critical nature of developing people to enable mission success.

Since 2000, he has worked with senior managers in small and mid-sized clients in a variety of sectors to create high performing, talent-first organizations where people want to work.

Sheila Carruthers MBA FCMC SCMP* has been an independent management consultant for more than 15 years.

Sheila has prepared many proposals herself and in collaboration with other consultants and subject matter experts. Some of these proposals have been successful and many were not... Learning from every proposal she writes, she continuously updates her proposal templates. 

Sheila skillfully integrates effective communication, sustainability, social value, and ethics into strategies for every business function. She is a certified management consultant and trainer for businesses, professional associations, and academic institutions- working for small, medium, and large businesses, government entities, and nonprofits.

Bekah Ames joined the Higher Landing team in early 2019. She has held a number of administrative roles with increasing responsibility over the past 9 years, holding customer service roles prior to that. Starting her career with ATB Financial, where they promote excellent customer service by encouraging the staff to be "hungry, connectors and translators", she received handshakes and hugs from clients who appreciate the customer service she provided. This was the foundation for her work ethic, which she reflects back on throughout her career. She enjoys helping others, is efficient, and organized. Bekah brings value wherever she goes by looking out for others. Originally from Ontario, Bekah moved out west with her family to Grande Prairie where she lived for 10 years and since 2016, she has made Calgary her home.
