Laura's skills can help clients avoid unexpected costs, improve profitability and transfer risk while satisfying stakeholders that risks have been well mitigated.

Laura is a highly respected business leader with 20 years of broad experience in proposal management, project management and a decade in risk management. She is driven to exceed client expectations and improve the customer experience. With her strong communication skills, Laura works to build strong teams and foster solid relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at every level. Laura has earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and is enrolled in the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) certification program.

From 2002 to 2018, Laura was employed with the same company,  ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd. and has had project work with for profit and not-for-profit firms.  She developed and demonstrated expertise in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), risk register development, project management, insurance, and contract evaluation. Since then, she has provided meaningful advice to a not- for-profit organization to improve their risk register. She has also provided strategic advice, to a company in transition.

Risk Management

Risk management activities included determining top risks from over two hundred risks (hazard, operational, and financial and strategic) and were assessed and reported to the Board of Directors.

Laura reduced the time associated with ERM by 48% while retaining the quality of the risk register.  This meant over $1 million in salary savings due to this business process improvement.

Business Continuity

In 2008, Laura developed a Pandemic Plan in conjunction with other corporate entities. She wrote the head office plans and compiled project plans. This was a one-year project and included pandemic plans for workforce camps, a mine, and a project in Afghanistan. There was only a 3% chance of an Avian flu pandemic in 2008. This knowledge is applicable to COVID-19 and other business continuity plans.

Laura is knowledgeable about ERM from both an insurance and operational perspective. She sees the link between strategy, risk, and business objectives and utilizes her specific abilities to lead her clients to innovative and successful solutions.
